The Community Justice Promoters program seeks to strengthen a support and rights defense network for women and gender and sexual diversity in prison contexts and their communities.
We are promoters of justice
We are currently working on several key milestones: conducting a needs assessment and identifying challenges faced by incarcerated women and their families, establishing solutions and successful legal practices implemented by them; creating a support network among community justice promoters, formerly incarcerated women and LGBTQ+ individuals, activists, and workshop facilitators to strengthen the defense of rights in prison and community contexts; offering training workshops on human rights, prison rights, and gender equality, promoting collaborative learning; implementing a comprehensive support system to assist women, LGBTQ+ individuals, and their families in their legal and personal processes; and creating accessible educational materials that disseminate information on fundamental rights and legal resources, promoting the empowerment of our Sisterhood Community.
Cross-cutting legal support
We work for the comprehensive defense of the human rights of women, gender and sexual minorities, and children within the prison system. Through a holistic legal approach, we strive to guarantee access to justice and protect the fundamental rights of our community. Furthermore, in the process of community building, we are committed to improving quality of life by creating networks with other organizations and institutions, promoting access to essential services, strengthening our community, and facilitating the full exercise of their rights, free from violence, discrimination, or abuse. In this way, we drive structural change toward a more just and inclusive society.
KNOW OUR RIGHTS, DEFEND OUR FREEDOM:
In 2025, with the support of the Project Incubator of the Latin American School of Community Advocacy and Political Activism (ELAC), the Latin American Community of Legal Empowerment (GJN) and the Legal Empowerment Fund (LEF), this program is being built collectively, promoting empowerment and social justice.
From a comprehensive human rights perspective, we work to guarantee access to justice and protect the rights of women, gender and sexual minorities, and children in prison. We are committed to improving quality of life through networks with organizations and institutions, promoting access to essential services, and strengthening the community . Our goal is to drive structural change toward a more just and inclusive society , free from violence and discrimination.
