Sisterly Community
It is a space co-created by incarcerated women and gender-diverse individuals, formerly incarcerated people, their families, children, artivists, and feminist activists connected to the prison system. Its objective is to generate a comprehensive and ongoing support network , promoting collective healing and learning through art, education, and community and psychosocial support.
Cross-cutting psychological and social support
To achieve a truly meaningful and transformative experience, we consider it essential to take into account the context and reality of each member of our community. Therefore, we incorporate comprehensive psychosocial support into all our programs and projects. This holistic approach allows us to address challenges both during and after incarceration, fostering community building. In this way, we work to repair and strengthen family and community ties, facilitating social reintegration and integration, and promoting a positive connection for all members of the community.
Furthermore, in order to strengthen our support network and promote sustainability, we have launched various campaigns and donations, such as the delivery of food and educational kits for children, among other essential initiatives to improve the quality of life of our community in a sustainable way.
This space is organized into three interconnected spheres. First, comprehensive psychosocial support is offered across all programs, facilitating social integration and strengthening family and community ties. Additionally, support campaigns are launched with essential donations, such as food and educational kits. Second, Sisterhood Community gatherings are held, promoting artistic and cultural participation to transform violence and build a world free from punitive logic.
Finally, the Pájarx entre Púas Community Training School is maintained, an inclusive space based on popular education, where people can strengthen their creative skills and use art as a tool for resistance, repair and personal and collective transformation.
Sisterhood Community Encounters
We have built a network of mutual support and resistance, based on collaboration and collective creation. Through gatherings, we strengthen our creative skills, foster collaborative learning, and together seek to transform the effects of violence.
Our Sorora community, made up of formerly incarcerated comrades, artivists, feminist activists, and children, has established itself as a space for artistic and cultural participation. This space unites us in solidarity and commitment, with the goal of building a world free from punitive systems. We defend cultural rights, promote participation, and thus, our work becomes an act of collective care and healing.
Community Training School
Together, we maintain an inclusive and safe space where our community can explore and strengthen its creative skills through diverse artistic expressions. From a popular education perspective, we collectively facilitate mutual and horizontal learning processes, in which each member can recognize and be recognized through their own creations. In this way, we collectively address the harm caused by sexist and patriarchal violence.
This space aspires to be a meeting point of knowledge, where artistic expression is not only a means of communication and resistance, but also a tool for personal and collective transformation and repair.
